OUR TRIP LOGISTICS

   Planning an adventure trip can often seem overwhelming.  Below you’ll find much of the information necessary to help you plan your trip with ESC Outside! (Coming soon: More specific logistical details related to individual itineraries will be found under the link at the bottom of each of our trip details page.)

  We believe that the best way to experience the Last Frontier is in a small group and off the beaten path!  Our trips are limited to 6 guests.  And with a guest to guide ratio of 3:1 you are assured of our commitment to risk management, safety-conscious operations, and logistical excellence.

  All our trips originate from the city or town with an International or Regional Airport near the National Park or National Forest where we will be hiking. Your travel agent, or the carrier of your choice can easily arrange round trip airfare from your home city.  All our adventures include transportation beyond these originating cities.

  On all our trips you will travel by Premium SUV from pick-up to drop-off.

  We use only the best available hotels, lodges, in the area we are traveling, and they are comfortable and conveniently located.  Our trips include at least two, generally 4-5,  nights in a hotel or lodge. Our trip rates are the same for all guests, whether single or double occupancy. 

• Due to occasional limited inventory with our vendor's accommodations, a single room cannot always be guaranteed.

• Professional guide service at a 3:1 guest-to-guide ratio or better.
• All meals – Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snacks
• Ground transportation from arrival to departure at the closest International or Regional Airport to our destination.
• Lodging every night for the length of the trip.
• All activities listed on the itinerary.
• 1 year membership to American Alpine Club

• Lodging prior to and after your trip. 
• Personal gear (packs, rain gear, etc.).
• Trip cancellation/interruption insurance.
• Personal alcoholic beverages, outside of dinner.
• Guide gratuities (generally 5-10% of the trip cost is suggested)

  Trip Cancellation/Interruption insurance is not included with your ESC Outside trip, and we STRONGLY RECOMMEND securing a policy prior to departure.  Our guests have had good success with RIPCORD BY REDPOINT or TRAVEL GUARD BY AIG.  Typically, trip cancellation/interruption coverage costs approximately 6% of the trip price.

   ESCO and our guides follow strict emergency protocols and procedures.  Our guides are all current Wilderness First Responders (at a minimum).  Additionally, they will be carrying a Garmin InReach when in the wilderness, and handheld radios and cell phones.  Your guide will conduct a thorough orientation to help familiarize you with these policies, protocols, and procedures 

  All guests of ESC Outside are required to complete and sign a liability release, guest profile form, and acknowledgment of risk prior to trip departure.  Waivers and guest profiles are completed online during the paper-free trip registration process.

  Our guides work very hard to make sure your adventure is a success and strive to make your experience enjoyable.  Let them know how well you feel they have performed with a tip. The guides always appreciate any gratuity offered. Suggested total amounts range from 5-10% of the trip price.
